US mechanical tubing imports up 24.9 percent in October

According to census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 44,674 mt in October 2018, up 24.9 percent from September but down 22.6 percent from October 2017 levels. By value, mechanical tubing imports totaled $66.4 million in October 2018, compared to $57.1 million in the previous month and $84.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in October, with 8,148 mt, compared to 10,398 mt in September and 13,218 mt in October 2017. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in October include Canada, with 8,051 mt; Romania, with 4,067 mt; Germany, with 4,032 mt; and India, with 3,527 mt.
