According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 52,936 mt in July 2019, up 15.7 percent from June and up 9.4 percent from July 2018 levels. By value, mechanical tubing imports totaled $71.7 million in July 2019, compared to $65.2 million in the previous month and $71.1 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in July, with 15,383 mt, compared to 18,385 mt in June and 13,143 mt in July 2018. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in July include Canada, with 7,940 mt; Russia, with 4,802 mt; Germany, with 3,227 mt; and China, with 3,128 mt.
