US mechanical tubing imports up 1.5 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 41,010 mt in April 2019, up 1.5 percent from March but down 32.7 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, mechanical tubing imports totaled $63.2 million in April 2018, compared to $67.3 million in the previous month and $92.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in April, with 12,762 mt, compared to 9,766 mt in March and 16,589 mt in April 2018. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in April include Canada, with 7,052 mt; Germany, with 4,938 mt; Russia, with 2,648 mt; and China, with 2,536 mt.
