US mechanical tubing imports up 14 percent in July

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 48,384 mt in July 2018, up 14.0 percent from June but down 12.9 percent from July 2017 levels. By value, mechanical tubing imports totaled $71.1 million in July 2018, compared to $66.5 million in the previous month and $74.8 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in July, with 13,143 mt, compared to 6,706 mt in June and 11,843 mt in July 2017. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in July include Canada, with 7,301 mt; Germany, with 4,719 mt; Vietnam, with 3,599 mt; and China, with 3,449 mt.
