US manufacturing profits down in Q4 2017

The US Census Bureau announced the following seasonally adjusted quarterly after-tax profits for manufacturing industries statistics for Fourth Quarter 2017.

US manufacturing corporations’ seasonally adjusted after-tax profits in the fourth quarter of 2017 totaled $117.6 billion, down $30.8 (±1.1) billion from the after-tax profits of $148.4 billion recorded in the third quarter of 2017, and down $17.4 (±0.4) billion from the after-tax profits of $135.0 billion recorded in the fourth quarter of 2016.      

Seasonally adjusted sales for the quarter totaled $1,691.7 billion, up $60.6 (±17.7) billion from the $1,631.1 billion recorded in the third quarter of 2017, and up $103.6 (±6.1) billion from the $1,588.0 billion recorded in the fourth quarter of 2016.
