US line pipe imports up 37.4 percent in October

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 176,658 mt in October 2018, up 37.4 percent from September but down 22.6 percent from October 2017 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $200.2 million in October 2018, compared to $146.1 million in the previous month and $209.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Greece in October, with 32,539 mt, compared to 11,932 mt in September and zero tonnage in October 2017. Other top sources of imported line pipe in October include Turkey, with 23,697 mt; Mexico, with 21,993 mt; Germany, with 20,424 mt; Canada, with 17,392 mt; and Taiwan, with 8,304 mt.
