US line pipe imports up 29.6 percent in July

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 145,026 mt in July 2019, up 29.6 percent from June but down 14.9 percent from July 2018 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $144.7 million in July 2019, compared to $122.3 million in the previous month and $181.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Korea in July, with 42,032 mt, compared to 13,805 mt in June and 32,090 mt in July 2018. Other top sources of imported line pipe in July include Greece, with 21,324 mt; Mexico, with 15,429 mt; Taiwan, with 13,265 mt; and Thailand, with 8,860 mt.
