US line pipe imports up 15.8 percent in May

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 59,133 mt in May 2020, up 15.8 percent from April but down 53.5 percent from May 2019 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $59.3 million in May 2020, compared to $64.0 million in the previous month and $128.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Korea in May, with 13,255 mt, compared to 12,167 mt in April and 52,719 mt in May 2019. Other top sources of imported line pipe in May include Germany, with 8,145 mt; Japan, with 6,296 mt; Mexico, with 4,662 mt; and Ukraine, with 4,530 mt.
