US line pipe imports rise 5.1 percent in June

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 175,428 mt in June 2017, up 5.1 percent from May and up 69.2 percent from June 2016 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $156.3 million in June 2017, compared to $146.9 million in the previous month and $98.8 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Korea in June, with 55,572 mt, compared to 57,168 mt in May and 30,784 mt in June 2016. Other top sources of imported line pipe in June include India, with 22,691 mt; Germany, with 16,599 mt; Canada, with 13,544 mt; Mexico, with 13,170 mt; and Turkey, with 11,172 mt.
