US line pipe imports rise 3.8 percent in March

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 152,081 mt in March 2017, up 3.8 percent from February and up 46.4 percent from March 2016 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $120.1 million in March 2017, compared to $111.9 million in the previous month and $92.7 million in the same month last year.
 
The US imported the most line pipe from India in March, with 44,970 mt, compared to 53,405 mt in February and only 846 mt in March 2016. Other top sources of imported line pipe in March include Korea, with 38,680 mt; Canada, with 16,907 mt; Mexico, with 10,379 mt; Germany, with 7,116 mt; and Turkey, with 4,506 mt.
