US line pipe imports drop 27.5 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 127,580 mt in February 2018, down 27.5 percent from January and down 12.9 percent from February 2017 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $130.3 million in February 2018, compared to $167.4 million in the previous month and $111.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Korea in February, with 38,619 mt, compared to 80,141 mt in January and 44,858 mt in February 2017. Other top sources of imported line pipe in February include Canada, with 17,299 mt; Greece, with 11,996 mt; Mexico, with 10,938 mt; Germany, with 8,771 mt; and Brazil, with 5,148 mt.
