US line pipe imports down 6.2 percent in January

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 66,298 mt in January 2023, down 6.2 percent from December but up 71.6 percent from January 2022 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $130.7 million in January 2023, compared to $141.0 million in December and $58.2 million in January 2022.

The US imported the most line pipe from South Korea in January, with 20,566 mt, compared to 36,030 mt in December and 5,782 mt in January 2022. Other top sources of imported line pipe in January include Mexico, with 8,294 mt; Brazil, with 6,517 mt; Romania, with 5,312 mt; and Italy, with 5,224 mt.
