US line pipe imports down 30.2 percent in October

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 68,283 mt in October 2019, down 30.2 percent from September and down 61.3 percent from October 2018 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $84.1 million in October 2019, compared to $120.2 million in the previous month and $200.2 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Canada in October, with 18,907 mt, compared to 20,465 mt in September and 17,392 mt in October 2018. Other top sources of imported line pipe in October include Germany, with 11,879 mt; Japan, with 7,975 mt; Korea, with 7,391 mt; and Mexico, with 5,231 mt.
