US line pipe imports down 25.7 percent in September

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 97,895 mt in September 2019, down 25.7 percent from August and down 23.9 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $120.2 million in September 2019, compared to $136.9 million in the previous month and $146.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Canada in September, with 20,465 mt, compared to 4,202 mt in August and 12,785 mt in September 2018. Other top sources of imported line pipe in September include Korea, with 15,606 mt; Germany, with 10,904 mt; Japan, with 8,679 mt; and United Kingdom, with 5,888 mt.
