US line pipe imports down 19.1 percent in September

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 127,411 mt in September 2018, down 19.1 percent from August and down 49.2 percent from September 2017 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $145.1 million in September 2018, compared to $177.9 million in the previous month and $225.0 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Mexico in September, with 21,944 mt, compared to 20,693 mt in August and 13,748 mt in September 2017. Other top sources of imported line pipe in September include Turkey, with 20,125 mt; Germany, with 13,827 mt; Canada, with 12,785 mt; Korea, with 12,613 mt; and Greece, with 11,932 mt.
