US line pipe imports down 18.2 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 149,266 mt in April 2019, down 18.2 percent from March and down 40.7 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $159.1 million in April 2018, compared to $194.7 million in the previous month and $242.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Korea in April, with 42,454 mt, compared to 17,788 mt in March and 119,315 mt in April 2018. Other top sources of imported line pipe in April include Germany, with 14,488 mt; Mexico, with 12,130 mt; Thailand, with 11,299 mt; and Malaysia, with 9,504 mt.
