US iron and steel scrap exports rise 19.2 percent in October

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,540,544 mt in October, a 19.2 percent increase month-on-month and a 29.2 percent increase year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in October with 295,186 mt, which decreased 46.5 percent month-on-month and increased 5.9 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in October include: Egypt, with 198,991 mt; Korea, with 109,532 mt; Thailand, with 106,501 mt; and Canada, with 104,041 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $525.5 million in October, a 16.4 percent increase compared to September and a 59.1 percent increase compared to October 2016.
