US iron and steel scrap exports rise 16.7 percent in July

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,462,505 mt in July 2018, a 16.7 percent increase month-on-month and a 15.8 percent increase year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in July with 367,478 mt, which surged up 150.5 percent month-on-month and increased 20.8 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in July 2018 include: Mexico, with 152,007 mt; Taiwan, with 126,605 mt; Canada, with 124,143 mt; and Bangladesh, with 109,307 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $496.5 million in July 2018, a 12.1 percent increase compared to June and a 26.8 percent increase compared to July 2017.
