US iron and steel scrap exports increase 29.7 percent in April

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,176,758 mt in April, a 29.7 percent increase month-on-month and a 21.4 percent increase year-on-year.
 
Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in April with 314,792 mt, which surged up 199.2 percent month-on-month and increased 20.4 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in April include: Taiwan, with 128,547 mt; Mexico, with 124,221 mt; Vietnam, with 110,964 mt; and China, with 100,665 mt.
 
In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $405.7 million in April, a 32.9 percent increase compared to March and a 50.4 percent increase compared to April 2016.
