US iron and steel scrap exports edge up 0.5 percent in June

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,761,340 mt in June 2019, a 0.5 percent increase month-on-month and a 43.3 percent increase year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in June with 386,961 mt, up 13.3 percent month-on-month and up 163.7 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in June 2019 include: Canada, with 183,519 mt; Taiwan, with 167,029 mt; India, with 158,235 mt; and Netherlands, with 140,051 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $550.2 million in June 2019, a 5.2 percent increase compared to May and a 25.6 percent increase compared to June 2018.
