US iron and steel scrap exports down 9.1 percent in July

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,601,823 mt in July 2019, a 9.1 percent decrease month-on-month but an 11.9 percent increase year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in July with 325,080 mt, down 15.9 percent month-on-month and down 11.3 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in July 2019 include: Vietnam, with 250,347 mt; Canada, with 208,487 mt; Taiwan, with 141,770 mt; and India, with 110,193 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $487.9 million in July 2019, an 11.3 percent decrease compared to June but a 0.5 percent increase compared to July 2018.
