US iron and steel scrap exports down 7.6 percent in February

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,436,500 mt in February 2020, a 7.6 percent decrease month-on-month but a 21.7 percent increase year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in February with 221,113 mt, down 35.6 percent month-on-month and down 25.8 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in February include: Malaysia, with 148,903 mt; Taiwan, with 124,400 mt; Bangladesh, with 121,951 mt; and India, with 107,686 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $418.1 million in February 2020, a 5.9 percent increase compared to January and a 13.9 percent increase compared to February 2019.
