US iron and steel scrap exports down 4.1 percent in November

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,503,807 mt in November 2019, a 4.1 percent decrease month-on-month but a 1.7 percent increase year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in November with 427,064 mt, up 27.2 percent month-on-month and up 39.2 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in November 2019 include: Taiwan, with 190,634 mt; Bangladesh, with 157,792 mt; Mexico, with 108,291 mt; and India, with 91,412 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $436.7 million in November 2019, a 1.3 percent increase compared to October and a 1.8 percent increase compared to November 2018.
