US HRC imports down 19.2 percent in November

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot rolled sheets totaled 117,254 mt in November 2019, down 19.2 percent from October and down 32.8 percent from November 2018 levels. By value, HRC imports totaled $67.5 million in November 2019, compared to $88.7 million in the previous month and $135.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most HRC from Canada in November, with 71,464 mt, compared to 77,532 mt in October and 64,076 mt in November 2018. Other top sources of imported HRC in November include Korea, with 19,653 mt; Netherlands, with 18,832 mt; Mexico, with 3,086 mt; and Sweden, with 2,142 mt.
