US HRC exports up 8.6 percent in May

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 56,899 mt in May 2018, up 8.6 percent from April but down 31.8 percent from May 2017 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $50.1 million in May, compared to $46.8 million in the previous month and $64.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in May with 34,350 mt, compared to 29,191 mt in April and 37,292 mt in May 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 21,547 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in May.
