US HRC exports up 30.4 percent in December

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 53,040 mt in December 2019, up 30.4 percent from November and up 3.4 percent from December 2018 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $42.5 million in December, compared to $35.3 million in the previous month and $49.5 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in December with 43,041 mt, compared to 30,402 mt in November and 39,554 mt in December 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 9,474 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in December.
