US HRC exports up 19.8 percent in August

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 46,904 mt in August 2019, up 19.8 percent from July and up 9.4 percent from August 2018 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $41.7 million in August, compared to $35.5 million in the previous month and $41.2 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in August with 33,541 mt, compared to 27,206 mt in July and 29,314 mt in August 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 11,736 mt; and Vietnam, with 1,099 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in August.
