US HRC exports up 10.2 percent in May

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 40,712 mt in May 2019, up 10.2 percent from April but down 28.4 percent from May 2018 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $38.5 million in May, compared to $34.9 million in the previous month and $50.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in May with 29,364 mt, compared to 25,897 mt in April and 34,350 mt in May 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 10,784 mt. There were no other major destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US export HRC in May.
