US HRC exports rise 13.2 percent in May

US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 83,428 mt in May, up 13.2 percent from April and up 57.9 percent from May 2016 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $64.1 million in May, compared to $56.2 million in the previous month and $38.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Canada in May with 45,724 mt, compared to 32,867 mt in April and 19,292 mt in May 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 37,292 mt. No other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) of US export HRC were recorded in May.
