US HRC exports down 9.3 percent in March

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 53,717 mt in March 2018, down 9.3 percent from February and down 29.5 percent from March 2017 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $46.9 million in March, compared to $49.3 million in the previous month and $55.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in March with 32,465 mt, compared to 33,778 mt in February and 47,374 mt in March 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 20,305 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in March.
