US HRC exports down 3.5 percent in March

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 36,623 mt in March 2019, down 3.5 percent from February and down 31.8 percent from March 2018 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $34.6 million in March, compared to $36.7 million in the previous month and $46.8 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in March with 25,690 mt, compared to 27,796 mt in February and 32,465 mt in March 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 10,606 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in March.
