US HRC exports down 2.5 percent in April

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 52,379 mt in April 2018, down 2.5 percent from March and down 28.9 percent from April 2017 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $46.8 million in April, compared to $46.9 million in the previous month and $56.2 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in April with 29,191 mt, compared to 32,465 mt in March and 40,562 mt in April 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 22,387 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in April.
