US HRC exports down 15 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 43,602 mt in January 2019, down 15.0 percent from December and down 28.8 percent from January 2018 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $42.3 million in January, compared to $49.5 million in the previous month and $48.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in January with 29,812 mt, compared to 39,554 mt in December and 33,476 mt in January 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 13,457 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in January.
