US HRC exports down 14.2 percent in August

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 42,882 mt in August 2018, down 14.2 percent from July and down 49.8 percent from August 2017 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $41.2 million in August, compared to $46.7 million in the previous month and $58.4 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in August with 29,314 mt, compared to 31,166 mt in July and 64,501 mt in August 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 12,875 mt. There were no other major destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in August.
