US HRC exports down 10.2 percent in May

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheets totaled 20,716 mt in May 2020, down 10.2 percent from April and down 43.4 percent from May 2019 levels. By value, HRC exports totaled $15.2 million in May, compared to $19.0 million in the previous month and $38.5 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in May with 16,246 mt, compared to 20,268 mt in April and 29,364 mt in May 2019. Other top destinations included Canada, with 4,025 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in May.
