US hot rolled bar exports up 5.6 percent in March

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 25,151 mt in March 2019, up 5.6 percent from February but down 49.2 percent from March 2018 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $32.3 million in March, compared to $29.9 million in the previous month and $49.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Mexico in March with 14,598 mt, compared to 14,178 mt in February and 17,359 mt in March 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 9,067 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US hot rolled bar exports in March.
