US hot rolled bar exports up 33.2 percent in October

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 33,364 mt in October 2019, up 33.2 percent from September but down 3.8 percent from October 2018 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $34.7 million in October, compared to $32.1 million in the previous month and $38.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Mexico in October with 17,841 mt, compared to 11,717 mt in September and 23,442 mt in October 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 14,388 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US hot rolled bar exports in October.
