US hot rolled bar exports rise 22.4 percent in August

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 42,729 mt in August, up 22.4 percent from July and up 21.5 percent from August 2016 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $44.1 million in August, compared to $36.1 million in the previous month and $33.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Mexico in August with 20,720 mt, compared to 17,418 mt in July and 19,756 mt in August 2016. Other top destinations included Canada, with 20,694 mt. There were no other notable (over 1,000 mt) destinations for US hot rolled bar exports in August.
