US hot rolled bar exports rise 18.3 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 36,218 mt in January 2018, up 18.3 percent from December and up 1.4 percent from January 2017 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $38.5 million in January, compared to $31.3 million in the previous month and $35.8 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Mexico in January with 17,429 mt, compared to 14,780 mt in December and 16,008 mt in January 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 16,892 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US hot rolled bar exports in January.
