US hot rolled bar exports drop 13.9 percent in September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 36,751 mt in September, down 13.9 percent from August but up 10.4 percent from September 2016 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $38.9 million in September, compared to $44.1 million in the previous month and $33.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Canada in September with 19,582 mt, compared to 20,694 mt in August and 15,393 mt in September 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 15,495 mt. There were no other significant destinations (over 1,000 mt) for US export hot rolled bar in September.
