US hot rolled bar exports down 19.9 percent in September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 25,989 mt in September 2018, down 19.9 percent from August and down 29.3 percent from September 2017 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $32.0 million in September, compared to $37.2 million in the previous month and $38.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Mexico in September with 13,572 mt, compared to 17,571 mt in August and 15,495 mt in September 2017. Other top destinations included Canada, with 9,000 mt; and Vietnam, with 2,090 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US hot rolled bar exports in September.
