US hot rolled bar exports down 19.7 percent in September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 25,039 mt in September 2019, down 19.7 percent from August and down 3.7 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $32.1 million in September, compared to $37.0 million in the previous month and $32.0 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Canada in September with 12,134 mt, compared to 10,746 mt in August and 9,000 mt in September 2018. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 11,717 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US hot rolled bar exports in September.
