US hot rolled bar exports down 1.9 percent in April

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled bar totaled 24,660 mt in April 2019, down 1.9 percent from March and down 45.6 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $31.9 million in April, compared to $32.3 million in the previous month and $49.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Mexico in April with 13,284 mt, compared to 14,598 mt in March and 17,880 mt in April 2018. Other top destinations included Canada, with 9,360 mt. There were no other major destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US hot rolled bar exports in April.
