US HDG imports down 27.2 percent in November

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 146,327 mt in November 2019, down 27.2 percent from October and down 30.2 percent from November 2018 levels. By value, HDG imports totaled $136.0 million in November 2019, compared to $189.9 million in the previous month and $211.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most HDG from Canada in November, with 67,518 mt, compared to 85,428 mt in October and 70,984 mt in November 2018. Other top sources of imported HDG in November include Korea, with 12,558 mt; Mexico, with 9,680 mt; Vietnam, with 7,419 mt; and UAE, with 7,042 mt.
