US HDG imports down 22.8 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot dipped galvanized sheets totaled 173,061 mt in February 2020, down 22.8 percent from January and down 3.6 percent from February 2019 levels. By value HDG imports totaled $160.3 million in February 2020, compared to $206.8 million in the previous month and $173.2 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most HDG from Canada in February, with 82,011 mt, compared to 93,537 mt in January and 62,082 mt in February 2019. Other top sources of imported HDG in February include Korea, with 17,596 mt; Brazil, with 13,100 mt; Mexico, with 10,028 mt; and Taiwan, with 8,339 mt.
