US HDG imports down 11.2 percent in November

According to delayed final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 209,581 mt in November 2018, down 11.2 percent from October and down 10.0 percent from November 2017 levels. By value, HDG imports totaled $211.1 million in November 2018, compared to $230.2 million in the previous month and $210.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most HDG from Canada in November, with 70,984 mt, compared to 70,614 mt in October and 83,268 mt in November 2017. Other top sources of imported HDG in November include Vietnam, with 36,459 mt; Korea, with 28,368 mt; UAE, with 10,748 mt; Austria, with 9,961 mt; and Taiwan, with 9,324 mt.
