US HDG exports up 5.8 percent in May

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 105,504 mt in May 2019, up 5.8 percent from April but down 8.8 percent from May 2018 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $120.5 million in May, compared to $114.4 million in the previous month and $124.5 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in May with 59,057 mt, compared to 52,514 mt in April and 63,155 mt in May 2018. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 45,211 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in May.
