US HDG exports up 4.1 percent in October

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 99,373 mt in October 2018, up 4.1 percent from September but down 2.9 percent from October 2017 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $111.8 million in October, compared to $105.8 million in the previous month and $104.3 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in October with 59,758 mt, compared to 54,340 mt in September and 55,789 mt in October 2017. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 38,107 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in October.
