US HDG exports up 14.9 percent in March

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 107,511 mt in March 2018, up 14.9 percent from February but down 5.3 percent from March 2017 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $111.8 million in March, compared to $97.2 million in the previous month and $115.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in March with 63,651 mt, compared to 55,099 mt in February and 61,685 mt in March 2017. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 41,043 mt; and Italy, with 1,770 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in March.
