US HDG exports up 10.8 percent in April

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip totaled 119,161 mt in April 2018, up 10.8 percent from March but down 2.8 percent from April 2017 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $128.7 million in April, compared to $111.8 million in the previous month and $125.9 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in April with 68,344 mt, compared to 63,651 mt in March and 75,738 mt in April 2017. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 48,826 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in April.
